Fernan Pacheco Alfaro
Fernán Pacheco is a lawyer and notary by profession and a prominent figure in the study of fiscal timbres.
His interest in philately arose from a professional anecdote: a client from Texas, Mr. Ferguson, was so impressed by the color and variety of the fiscal timbreon a property deed that it inspired Pacheco to start his own collection. Subsequently, under the mentorship of Fred O’Neill (of blessed memory), who introduced him to proportional timbres and gave him part of his personal collections for study and preservation, Pacheco delved deeper into this discipline.
He has established himself as an expert in fiscal collecting, notably for his collection of “Marbetes de Costa Rica” presented in Volume IV of Great Collections. Furthermore, he has actively contributed to philatelic literature, writing for magazines such as Timbre, The Oxcart y Philatelic Repertoire, and serves as an assistant editor for the Documentary Revenue Stamp Catalogue. He is a member of prestigious organizations such as the Costa Rica Revenue & Postage Society, the Revenue Society of England and the Society for Costa Rica Collectors from the United States.
